| With the introduction of frame integrating CCD
video cameras, video astronomy is no longer restricted solely to solar
system objects. Cameras such as the ITE
DeepSky-Pro and AVA
StellaCam & StellaCam EX allow the real time viewing and video
recording of galaxies, nebulae and star clusters. Additionally, in
most instances, the view on the video monitor when using one of these amazing
cameras is far superior to those seen through the eyepiece. I have
never seen the central star of M57 with my 25cm Newtonian, but the first
time I turned my telescope equipped with one of these cameras on M57, I
not only could clearly see the central star, but also it's faint companion.
Video astronomy has taken a quantum leap forward with the introduction
of in-camera video frame integration. |
